Dallin's hair and Mia's nose

So because they are so cute I have to add in these pictures.  You can see I gave Dallin a haircut the day after the pumpkin patch.  Ok... so I didn't really.  I started on the bottom and John thought it looked bad so he finished up.  FOREVER!  Dallin was a really good boy.  He sat through John's very anal haircut so patiently.

The second picture is horribly out of focus, but oh so cute anyhow.  We went camping and it was a little cold the next morning.  This is my brand new baby with a very cold nose.  P.S. - Hannagan Meadows is gorgeous.  Don't anybody go there, though, because I like how secluded it is. :-P

Pumpkin Patch

Mia is smiling and cooing and kinda laughing.  She is so sweet!  We had such a busy weekend.  We started with donuts at Fry's and then went to the park to play and then the party started!  There were pony rides, a petting zoo, a chili cook-off and best of all - a pumpkin patch!  I think both of the kids had so much fun.  Dallin needed a hair cut really bad, so he got one the next day.

Real world...

So I started work again on Monday, having taken 6 weeks of maternity leave after Mia was born.  Pardon the expression, but it sucks.  Ok, so it isn't that bad, I just don't like leaving my beautiful children.  Dallin has odd temper tantrums like crying because the tears on his cheeks are hot... really.  He said that they hurt his cheeks.  (So stop crying!??!)  But I think Mia couldn't care less - as long as she eats.  Pumping breastmilk is definitely the second worst thing about going back to work.  Fortunately, though, it looks like I don't have to worry about drying up with stress at work; I got a new job!  I'm switching from industrial engineer to manufacturing engineer.  It has been fun learning the processes they go through to get hardware out the door.  So much red tape in a big company.   Anyhow, I like work.  Let me rephrase that.  I like what I do.  I wish my kids could somehow be there too.

Albuqerque Fun

We spent the week in Albuquerque with my parents. Dallin, Mia and I flew up on Tuesday. We're taking off tomorrow to go meet John in the woods and camp for the night. It's been a busy week! Tuesday we shopped with Grandma and played with all kinds of toys. They have all the fun ones - Lincoln Logs, Tonka trucks, Legos, and Tinker Toys. Wednesday we went hiking at Tent Rock National Monument. That was SOOOO cool! I didn't know that there was something like that in New Mexico. The rock formations were really cool, but the best part was the canyon; tight sandstone cliffs with a little path in between and lots of cool nooks and crannies. We picnic ed in the rocks and then headed home for dinner.

Dallin thought it would be fun to bury my parents' dog, Babe, while making a sandcastle.
See the Macho Man below... Thursday we woke up bright and early (4:30am) and got out to the International Balloon Fiesta. It was odd shaped balloon day. It was SO much fun! Mia was nice and warm in her sling again - love that thing - and Dallin made Grandpa carry him all morning. After the first balloons took off, the competition began. Then the more normal balloons raced to tag a stick for a $2000 prize. They also tried to drop sandbags near a flag for more prizes. It was really cool to watch them fly past us and then quickly drop and ascend again and circle around again. It was fun. After that we went to the Children's Museum in Albuquerque. Dallin had so much fun! He especially liked the exhibits to do with erosion and music. They also had life size Lincoln Logs on a patio. We built a house Dallin-sized.

Mia was nice and comfy warm in her sling and a stylish hat.

This morning we took off for Bandelier National Monument. So cool! There are little houses carved out of the cliffs. We walked all over until Dallin was too exhausted. Note - no dogs allowed. My parents' poor dog had to wait in the car. Dallin finally got what we were looking at on the way out at the visitor's center where they had some dioramas. Mia did a great job - no fear of heights. Dallin kept telling me, "This is gonna be scary!" We climbed 140ft on ladders to a kiva in a cave up in the cliff. Really amazing. So for those of you who have never been to New Mexico, you are missing out! We barely scratched the surface and it was just amazing.
